Around Edmond: Memorial Day a day of reflection. This week’s events. Welcome Summer!
Hi everyone! To those who have lost a friend or loved one who was serving our country, please know our condolences are with you and that it’s understood that the freedom’s we all enjoy here at home are paid with your losses. For that, I am truly grateful, especially in this unsure time we all find ourselves in globally.
Last week, I headed out to shoot some new summer photos around town, and ended up at Arcadian Getaways to visit with Innkeepers Martha and Gary Hall. Martha also made up some of her famous homemade cinnamon rolls, to which will be featured in the upcoming issue of EdmondActive. I was also unexpectedly treated to a recipe from Martha’s cookbook, Chili Relleno Quiche. I have no words to properly explain how amazing and delicious this dish was, and we may feature it and Martha’s cookbook this summer.
Upcoming Events
If you are new to the area, this is a pretty quiet week in and around Edmond. One thing I can definitely tell you to attend are the Edmond Parks & Rec Movies in the Park during the summer. On June 9th, the Parks and Rec department will be showing Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb at Stephenson Park at E 4th St from 8:30 pm – 11:30 pm
“Join us at Stephenson Park this month for our Movie in the Park starting at dusk. Come to the park early and head over to the Edmond Historical Society & Museum for some fun family activities before the movie. Movies are free with concessions for $1 each. Be sure to look for the popcorn buckets for sale (price TBA) for refills at all the movies! Be sure to bring your lawn chairs, blankets and bug spray.”
