Hi everyone, hoping you are all staying cool and doing well. I am super excited to get out and cover events for Libertyfest over the next week. The 4th of July is just one of my favorite times of the year, and if you are new to Edmond, do not miss the Libertyfest events, and fireworks. Check out our events page to mark your calendars. This last weekend saw the first Midpoint Corridor Route 66 Road Rally, that traversed across Edmond, Arcadia, Luther, Wellston, Chandler, Davenport, Stroud, Depew, Bristow, Kellyville and Sapulpa. It was a day that started with breakfast at The Chicken Shack in Arcadia and ended with dinner, a dance party, and awards.

In anticipation of the 100th Anniversary of Route 66 in 2026, the Road Rally will be one of the inaugural events to lead the way. Check out their photo gallery!

“Our first initiative was 100 Miles of Christmas last year. It helped 11 cities along Midpoint Corridor welcome Route 66 travelers over the holiday. The Road Rally plans to expand on that desire to navigate historic Route 66 by adding the thrill of a road rally,” said Ed Gochenour, owner of The Chicken Shack and founder of Route 66 Midpoint Corridor.

Tonight was the last City Council meeting to happen until after the 4th of July, and it was a quick meeting with a long agenda that flew through approvals. I am very excited to see the south east corner of Kelly & Covell develop! Keep your eye out for that. Other than that, there is a fun party happening to celebrate the opening of the new splashpad at Ted Anderson park on Rankin, check out the information for this fun event.
