Recipe By Vance Gregory / Edmond Wine Shop

2 parts mix (I like Pepper Creek Farms, Margaritaville or Jose Cuervo Margarita Mix)

1 part 100% Agave Tequila

1/2 part Cointreau

juice of 1/2 lime (more if you want it less sweet)

Salted glass rim (optional)

If you like salt on the rim, rub glass rim with piece of lime, then invert into margarita salt.

Use a shaker or pitcher to mix all ingredients, then shake or stir well with plenty of ice.

Proportions are not set in stone…. you can make yours more or less strong, and more or less sweet. Using more Cointreau gives it more orange flavor and sweetens it up a bit. Triple Sec is a substitute for Cointreau, but the original recipe used Cointreau, which has an orange flavor. I don’t recommend Grand Marnier because it has Cognac in it which covers up the flavor of good Tequila. Always use 100% Agave tequila. That’s all that’s sold in Mexico. If it isn’t 100% agave, it must still be at least 51% agave-based, but it hasn’t the character of real Tequila.

Have fun!
