Around Edmond: Happy Graduation Class of 2017! Edmond’s most popular festival is back this Saturday with Heard on Hurd! Socially Unacceptable!
Hi everyone! I haven’t made it back to the blog in the last 10 days, simply because… life! Graduations of our old neighbors kids, and jumping into a new issue’s production, with two more in my sights. First I want to congratulate everyone who graduated over the last two weeks from UCO, Edmond Public Schools and from Oklahoma Christian University. Here is to bright futures for you all!
For me, this time of year slows down with my social side at Facebook, Instagram and Twitter and begins the more exciting outdoor events coverage we bring during the summer, and takes me out of pocket. I think that is true of most people for at least the two weeks following the end of school. It let’s us all take a pause from social media to enjoy real life, our family and friends.
Speaking of social media, Jill Castilla, president of Citizen’s Bank of Edmond held a collaborative conference, titled #SociallyUnacceptable, on Wednesday May 10 in the all new Citizen’s Bank community meeting space at 1 N Broadway. Jill invited anyone who was interested in attending, and had some phenomenal attendees and speakers.
After speaking to some in attendance (I didn’t make it due to water heater replacement – real life!), this conference, which will continue quarterly is meant to have business owners, marketing directors, the Chamber, and more representing locally owned businesses sit down and discover ways for local independent businesses to thrive amongst the online business boom and using social media to do so. This amazing opportunity will present itself again sometime in August.
This weekend, Citizen’s Bank of Edmond’s Heard on Hurd is set to return to celebrate Graduation 2017, and has a stellar band line up planned, with of course some of the best locally owned pop up shops and the metro’s best food trucks! To enjoy what looks to be a great time, head down to Downtown Edmond this Saturday from 6-10 pm!
Below is the line up for this Saturday’s Heard on Hurd Festival, you can follow them at Facebook at Heard On Hurd, as well!
