Hi everyone! What a headline this week brings! I know all of you are trying to finish up your shopping with this being the last week of school before Christmas Break! The holidays seemed to have really flown by this year. If you are interested in new items from our retail sponsors, please visit our Instagram page off to the side of this blog or visit Instagram.com/Edmondactive! Visit our stories this week as we are highlighting all Edmond small independent businesses as my gift to them!

There has never been more going on during the holidays in Edmond, so I’ll just jump in!

This week, the Edmond Ice Rink and Luminance will be going strong at Mitch Park, and while this used to be the holiday experience in Edmond, after the 2015 cancellation of the Christmas Parade in Downtown Edmond, things are finally looking like the holidays, again.

Frenzy Brewing is really stepping it up by offering ways to get out and get fit. It is unusual for a business such as this and noteworthy. Their latest collaboration is with The Body Barre on Mondays. You can join them for walking, running and now Barre! Click on their name above to follow for future events. Located in the center of Downtown Edmond.

Also this evening the Edmond Youth Choir will be strolling through Downtown Edmond for Christmas Caroling thoughout the district!

If you are in need of getting your Santa photos taken, he and Mrs. Claus will be in Downtown Edmond tomorrow, Tuesday 12/14 from 5-7 pm in the community lobby of Citizen’s Bank of Edmond at 1st Street & Broadway! Photos are free and no appointment is necessary.

Oops I Arted, located in the Shoppes at Cheyenne on Bryant just south of 33rd Street is offering Christmas classes December 20th & 21st, so register now as these classes fill up quickly!

Natalie Miller Gallery Opening at Edmond Fine Arts Institute, Thursday, January 6th

Join us at the Edmond Fine Arts Gallery, 27 E. Edwards St, for a solo show featuring local artist Natalie Miller on Thursday, January 6th from 5pm to 7pm.

Artist Natalie Miller is best known for her acrylic paintings’ vibrant use of color on canvas. Her large and small scale works explore linear abstractions, bold color combinations, and the playful colliding of geometric forms. She graduated from Oklahoma Christian in 2007 with a BFA in Graphic Design and emphasis in Illustration. Her innate ability to manage color tone stems from over a decade working in the graphic and textile design field. She has recently explored a merging of visual graphics, vivid line work and nature that references her native Chickasaw heritage. She connects her past to her present on a visual journey drawing on the language of early and current textiles as well as her natural attraction to saturated colors. Her line work is pure in its steady hand and her color curation brings a playful voice that sets her apart. She leaves behind a contemporary renewal of her own interpretation, leading the viewer on a journey from one canvas to the next.

The Edmond Fine Arts Institute Gallery is open daily for public viewing Monday – Thursday or by appointment. Monthly gallery exhibits are a program of the Edmond Fine Arts Institute, with support from presenting sponsor, Price Mortgage Group, LLC.  FAI is Edmond’s nonprofit community arts organization providing year-round visual and performing art classes for children and adults and the Art in Schools Program for 3rd and 4th grade students in Edmond Public Schools.
