Hi there everyone, thanks for returning for a new Around Edmond! While Edmond has seen national retailers leave, OKC is bringing the heat when it comes to retaining large retailers.

Today it was announced that William Sonoma and Pottery Barn who had since left the market early in 2021 at Penn Square Mall, will be relocating their spaces to OAK which is located just across from the popular mall, along with a Tommy Bahama Marlin Bar and shopping space. This is exciting to say the least. See press release here: Amplify: OAK OKC Announces Williams Sonoma, Tommy Bahama Marlin Bar and Pottery Barn

Also, today Waffle Champion opened its doors in North Edmond on Covell, to the excitement of many here in Edmond!

RiSE has a new winter tenant! Next door to Citizen’s Bank of Edmond on Broadway just northeast of 1st St., you’ll find a vintage plus retailer! Check out the reel here and be sure to stop in Friday November 3, 2023 to receive a discount for Citizen’s Bank of Edmond’s CashMob!

It’s time for the Edmond Ice Rink, located on Covell, in Mitch Park, to begin its winter season Saturday and Sunday this weekend! The skating season will run from November 4, 2023 to January 15, 2024! For more information on individual rates and group rates, hours and more, visit them online at EdmondIceRink.com!

Vance Gregory happily celebrated Edmond Wine Shop’s 50th Anniversary in business at the 15th and Boulevard location with his family and employees being celebrated by the Edmond Chamber of Commerce! This business is an exemplary model for all new and younger business owners to model themselves after, always being helpful, courteous and Vance bringing occasional hilarity! Check out the celebration sent to us by Maddie Gregory here, Vance’s daughter who is also in the beverage industry. Way to go to the Gregory’s!

Time change is always a touchy subject on social media, and this year proved no differently. Last weekend I posted a funny Dave meme talking about the time change not really mattering because your phone does it for you that said “this week”, and there were some really upset folks out there. Seriously, it’s not really an announcement of any worth anymore because in fact our phones do it for us, only leaving you to change your car/truck’s clocks and your microwave/ovens. I do agree however we will all still talk about the “real time” for at least a week. And yes, I did know it happens this Saturday night!

That’s it for today, stop by next week to see what’s happening around Edmond,

Sherri
