Hi everyone, hope you’ve had a great week. I am in final production of the October/November issue of EdmondActive Magazine, which I bring the story of how Sheryl McLain’s Photography interests have come full circle, Sean Gomez tells us why he started Mez Wood Works, a feature on The Body Barre and how Heather Ehlers started her successful business that has just seen her studio make the move to Downtown Edmond in a packed yoga/barre studio environment. As well, I am restructuring our Shop Edmond section, and am excited to get out and about, which was supposed to start today, yet I have a runny nose and itchy eyes (not something I would normally discuss here) due to what I hope are allergies, and am waiting to see if it subsides, or whether I should go get a Covid test. Good times.

It is a time of contemplation right now with the City holding a special election October 12, that will allow residents to vote yes or no as to whether the City should buy the property south of Hafer Park to prevent development for $4 million, or continue to leave the property up for development by the owner. Should residents vote yes, the City’s sales taxes will increase to afford the purchase. Local residents believe the purchase should occur to prevent further development of Spring Creek Plaza or another development to preserve all areas around Hafer Park, with the argument that Spring Creek Village has many open suites available for rent, along with further development already occurring east of SC Plaza, stating further development is not necessary.

Today is a very exciting day for Coach O and family, as Big O’s BBQ OKC is opening its dining room for the first time in 18 months at 285 Santa Fe at Edmond Rd. They now offer indoor dining, carry out and outdoor seating!

Summer Moon Coffee will hold a Grand Opening Event Saturday 9/25 from 7 a.m. to noon at its new location at 17 W. 1st St. #150 at the north end of the Railyard next to Railyard Pie.

Cultured Clothes at Covell and I35 has been unpacking all kinds of cute new Fall items in store at their NE Edmond location and at their Chisolm Creek OKC location.

Emory Anne Interiors has also been unpacking new inventory that has been arriving daily for the upcoming Fall and Winter holidays, located on 150th Street just SE of Santa Fe. Also, be sure to inquire about fresh floral arrangements for the Fall holidays early, they are sure to be booked solid! Anne has a limited number of signed Trisha Yearwood cook books coming Tuesday 9/28, so mark your calendar to stop in to pick one up!

Oops I Arted at the Shoppes at Cheyenne on Bryant south of 33rd Street is booting up its Fall schedule now! Be sure to contact Risa if you’d like to reserve space in her weekly art classes, schedule a party or private event or get set up through EPIC at 405.476.9211

The Body Barre is opening its studio on Broadway in Downtown Edmond to parties and private events! Email the studio for more information at thebodybarreok@gmail.com

I’ve updated this year’s Pumpkin Patch list here, and this weekend may just be the perfect one yet to head out to pick up your pumpkins, hay and cornstalks!

And lastly, there is a new community event being hosted by the Edmond Chamber of Commerce called The Longest Table. It is to benefit the Chamber so that they may fund programs like like Youth Leadership Edmond and Edmond Young Professionals. The cost is $40 per member or $50 for non members individual tickets. The cost will get you a seat at the table and dinner from Neighborhood Jam, which will be a bbq theme with smoked meats, potato salad and banana pudding. There will also be a cash bar and a band. This event will be held at Littler Park on 1st Street and Littler on September 30, with registration starting at 5:30 pm and dinner starting at 6 pm.

Well, that’s it for today. Have a wonderful weekend, and be sure to check back next week to find out what’s happening around Edmond!
