A Beautiful WORD – “Coloring”

I was sure I wanted to go into medicine when I grew up.  In 4th grade I redrew all of the colored diagrams in my mother’s medical encyclopedias, coloring the liver, pancreas,etc with beautiful labels as well.  To go into medicine you have to study alot of chemistry.  I mean alot.  I took the class in my senior year of high school and got by because my lab partner was the smartest guy in the class.  Didn’t hurt that he was cute too.

For the first two years of college I was the professor’s secretary, so you guessed it, I cheated.  The 3rd year was in a new college with no help.  I was flunking.  I just couldn’t get it.  My roommate, Clover, was taking the course too.  When I shared that I had finagled my way through high school and junior college chemistry, she was intrigued to help me.  Clover was Asian with a mind for color.  She started teaching me chemistry with color!  All of a sudden my mind grasped the formulas because the “colors” of each element meant something to me!

Recently I discovered the “Beautiful Word Coloring Bible”  I’ve always loved the Bible, in fact my family calls my old worn out Bible the “Magic Bible”.  Open it to any page and there is writing and dates and a helpful verse.  This Beautiful Word Coloring Bible has opened up whole new insights for me.  Remember color resonates with me.

Joshua 1:8 says, “Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.”   For many of us we are so busy with life and the “urgent” that we don’t meditate much on our spiritual life; much less on the Bible.

That’s what is so wonderful about this Bible!  With the new coloring trend going on, many will find that coloring a verse in their coloring Bible will cause them to meditate on that verse.  It will sink deep as the shades of green, touches of yellow and red, contrast of purple fill the page.

I highly recommend this Bible because the pages are easy to read with wide margins to write your own notes or doodle you favorite verses.  Several special verses in that chapter are often already illustrated for you to color as well.  Unless you go to Philippians chapter 4.  There were too many good verses so they couldn’t fit in my favorite, verse 8,
“whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.” I’ll have to doodle that myself.

I enjoy the New International Version but there are other choices of Bible Versions.  I purchased mine at JoAnne’s Fabrics of all places.  I’ve ordered several as gifts from Amazon though. Better yet, I’d recommend enjoying a cup of coffee while you visit your local Mardel and pick up your copy!   Be sure you are getting the “coloring” Bible though.
