The annual Edmond Parks and Recreation Ugly Sweater Run is back! Get out your ugliest/tackiest sweater from anywhere you can find it and come support a great event and cause.

COST: $20 plus an item to be donated for the YMCA Military Welcome Center bags.

BRAND NEW CERTIFIED COURSE:
This course will be a brand new way to run Mitch Park. We have changed the course so that you will be running through all of the christmas light displays! This year the park will be more decorated than ever with more trees and over 30 large displays. With the late start time of this race and the new course, you are sure have a run you’ll never forget.

This year Edmond Parks and Recreation has teamed up with the Mitch Park YMCA for a special cause. Ugly Sweater Run participants will have a unique opportunity to help serve enlisted service members through the YMCA Military Welcome Center. The Military Welcome Center offers a restful and relaxing atmosphere for traveling military members from all branches, active or retired at Will Rogers World Airport. During the Christmas season, hundreds of soldiers will be returning home & traveling through the Center. We would like to provide the soldiers with goody bags to take on the plane as they travel home to their loved ones.

Each participant is asked to donate as many of the following item as they are able:
– magazines, books, snacks such as crackers, candy, peanuts, chips, etc. as well as any personal travel items/toiletries, notes of appreciation and encouragement.

We will be handing out christmas light necklaces to race participants that have brought a donation. These are for you to wear during the run. These necklaces will be the “race medal” or keep sake for the event, so be sure to donate to get yours!

We will have offical time clocks at the start/finish line, however this race WILL NOT BE CHIP TIMED. We made this decision to encourage you to donate to the soldiers and to keep the cost of the event to you as inexpensive as possible.

T-SHIRTS:
They will be styled to look like ugly Christmas sweaters and are long sleeved. Shirts will be available for pick on the day of the race – limited supplies will be ordered so the cut off for registration with a t-shirt will be Nov. 30.

As the event approaches we will release the t-shirt design and the brand new course!
