Local Flavor: 4 Fast Breakfast Hubs For Your Morning Commute

The weekend has come and gone, and Monday, for better or worse, has come for us all. If you need some fuel and fare on the go this week, look no further than these four quick and delicious morning meal spots.

Ellis Island Coffee and Wine Lounge

Quick service and an inviting, open atmosphere distinguish this North Broadway establishment. The coffee, from local roaster Eôté Coffee, is full and flavorful, and their wide array of inexpensive breakfast fare – from oatmeal to breakfast burritos – provides delicious options to go. Look for Ellis Island to open every morning from 7 AM to 10 PM Monday through Thursday, and 8 AM to 11 PM Friday and Saturday at 130 N Broadway Suite 150. Also, keep your eyes peeled for a location opening soon at the Shoppes at Cheyenne on 33rd and Bryant.

Café Evoke

Sometimes you want to take a moment to relax in the midst of your hectic morning routine. Sometimes you’d like a waffle to accompany your cup of joe. At Evoke, you can do that. They have other reasonably-priced breakfast items, like Vigilant Eats Superfood Cereal and a breakfast sandwich with fried egg, spinach, tomato, Swiss and a sriracha cream sauce, but their waffle line is to die for. Evoke is open every day from 7 AM to 7 PM at 103 S Broadway.

Stella Nova Crafted Coffee

If your commute doesn’t take you down Broadway, chances are good you might come across a Stella Nova instead. The locally-owned answer to chains like Starbucks, you can find Stella Nova in Downtown OKC, Crown Heights, Norman, and of course, Edmond at 150th and Western. They’re open from 5:30 AM to 9 PM Monday through Thursday, 5:30 AM to 10 PM on Friday and Saturday, and 6 AM to 9 PM on Sunday. They’ve got a variety of coffees, including a line of Frappes, prepackaged breakfasts and lunches, and assorted bakery items.

Old School Bagel Café

Bagels are a quintessential fast breakfast food. They’re up there with the other platonic breakfast ideals of English muffins, croissants and eggs-in-a-basket. They’re also among the most customizable foods out there. Anything can, in theory, go on a bagel. Old School Bagel Cafe tests this theory daily, with an assortment of not just breakfast bagels (as is tradition) but also various lunch bagels and bagel sandwiches. They also have pastries, salads, coffee and a variety of juices.

You can go to one of three Edmond locations — one on Covell and Kelly from 6:30 AM to 3 PM Monday through Friday, Broadway and 33rd From 6 AM to 3 PM Monday through Friday, and South Coltrane from 6 PM to 3 PM Monday through Friday. Not in Edmond? Good news! There are seven other locations in Oklahoma City, Stillwater, Tulsa and Norman.
