Hi everyone! Hoping you’re having a great week so far.

If you are new to Edmond, get ready for a week and a half of Libertyfest 4th of July celebrations.

This event is hands down some of the best fun. This year the event will kick off appropriately on June 14, 2023 at Hafer Park from 7:30 pm to 10 pm, with performances by the Army Band and a younger corp of ballet dancer’s from OKC Ballet, to the theme of “Our America, Spanning the Generations.”

The Army Birthday is celebrated on June 14th every year. It is the day on which the first United States Army was formed in 1775 as the Continental Army to fight the Revolutionary War. It is not an official federal or state holiday, but it is a day to celebrate the vital contributions and esprit de corps of the Army, soldiers, veterans, and their families. And, bonus, tomorrow is Flag Day.

Flag Day is a day to honor the national flag of the United States. It is celebrated on June 14 every year, which is the anniversary of the adoption of the flag by the Second Continental Congress in 1777.

The idea of Flag Day was first proposed by a Wisconsin schoolteacher named Bernard Cigrand in 1885, and it was officially established by President Woodrow Wilson in 1916.

Flag Day is not a federal holiday, but some states, such as Pennsylvania, observe it as a state holiday. During Flag Day and the week of June 14, Americans are encouraged to fly the U.S. flag and celebrate its history and symbolism.

Be sure to stop by Hafer Park tomorrow night, bring a seat, enjoy some birthday cake and enjoy both of the performances which are sure to be an excellent way to get your patriotism ramped up for the 4th!
