Around Edmond: Deck the Downtown saw a magical inaugural event. Shop locally owned this Small Business Saturday. Happy Thanksgiving to all of you!
Hi everyone, hoping you had a terrific weekend. I know for some this season is magical and for some it is stressful. If you find yourself on the stressed end of things, did you know there is a Community Thanksgiving Meal held at UCO’s Nigh Center from 11 am to 3 pm on Thursday? If you are not serving as a volunteer and need a place to share your holiday meal with others, please do not hesitate.
Deck the Downtown Inaugural Event is magical! To become a yearly tradition!
Stephanie Carel and the Downtown Edmond Business Association decided to start a new event in Downtown Edmond this year, invest in a new 20 ft Christmas tree, host a reindeer, and have city businesses sponsor free hot chocolate, treats, crafts and activities at Festival Market on 1st Street on a Tuesday evening November 14th, to bring the spirit of Christmas to Downtown Edmond.
Add in free carriage rides (free until December 23rd!), with the Mayor, Santa and Mrs. Claus leading cheerful chants to light the Christmas tree, and the scene was as magical in person as this description! It was a traditional event that stirred the spirit of the holiday season in everyone who attended.
You can visit the tree anytime on West First Street! Next year the event will return, and will add some more fun activities, so keep your calendar open, but this year, let the businesses know how much you appreciated a new event, and support them however you can throughout the season.
For the remainder of the season, for fun, you can visit the Luminance light display and Edmond Ice Rink at Mitch Park in North Edmond off of Covell, which will be perfect with colder weather coming up.
Small businesses in Downtown Edmond will be participating in Small Business Saturday this coming weekend with carriage rides and more from 10-3 pm! And when you are done, venture out to the small businesses all around Edmond that offer unique items and spectacular service!
For the first time in 35 Thanksgivings, I am spending the day with my family and my Mother in Law. It should be an excellent time, after so long without having spent time with extended family. With all of my family gone I genuinely appreciate her presence and can’t wait. I wish all of you peace and time with your friends and family.
After the holiday, get ready for some fun with the announcement of the 2023 Community Favorites Around Edmond and our 15th Annual Christmas Light’s Around Edmond!!!
See you all here after Thanksgiving!
