Sugar Free Allstars, the Grammy Award-featured family funk super duo based in Oklahoma City, will drop their 5th album, and first-ever EP, on Thursday, September 21 following “6th Grade Band,” the EP’s third single and video, which were released earlier this month. Sugar Free Allstars, composed of frontman Chris “Boom!” Wiser and Rob “Dr. Rock” Martin, are scheduled to perform songs from the latest album live at Bethany Children’s Health Center for a private event for patients on Friday, September 29, with a public show open to the public at Belle Isle Library at 2 p.m. on Saturday, September 30. This show will also coincide with the library’s 60th anniversary event from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

The video for “6th Grade Band” is a classroom chronicle featuring Edmond’s Oakdale school band under the direction of Bob Scott, presenting as a satirical coup of students vs. teachers ultimately landing on the same note. “I Like To Climb on Things” was the first single and video released on Extended Play, recorded in Spring 2022, but was withheld due to Covid until the band could safely schedule a performance for live audiences.

Inspired by Wiser’s youngest son, “I Like To Climb on Things” is a timeless and ageless classic that sparks curiosity and is best described by Chris as “Beck meets LL Cool J’s ‘Going Back to Cali’ with some marching band drumline thrown in for good measure.”

Other songs on the six-track Extended Play EP include the heartfelt “I’ll Always Be There for You,” a cover of “Sugar Sugar,” by The Archies that features fellow family music artists Andrew & Polly, a remake of the SFA culinary classic “Cornbread,” and “Sunny Summertime.”, the second single and video from the EP that enjoyed some time on the SiriusXM Kid’s Place Live top 13 charts this past summer.

Extended Play will be available for purchase at the show and on Spotify, Apple Music, iTunes, Bandcamp and other streaming services.
