Hi everyone, now that everyone has gotten into the swing of things after Labor Day, it’s time for 5 days off from school for Fall Break.  For a decade this confounded me, but as my sons got older, I really liked the short time to be present.

I know a lot of you take time at the beach or in Colorado, but staycationing it during Fall Break is really where it’s at, now that Edmond and OKC are full of things to do. And, still, even after all of these years, I love how this time of year changes, cools down, and becomes the most beautiful time of year, and leads me to want to clean up and decorate for whatever is the nearest holiday. Fall Break is a great time to slow down with family & friends.

And, after the amazing and quite frankly, surprising Aurora sighting last week,

kudos to the Atlas Comet.

It has been an astronomical set that has been a delightful distraction this week. After NWS Norman gave the heads-up Monday morning, by the evening, a ton of people headed over to Lake Hefner!

The cover photo is my photo from tonight, on night 2, that I can’t believe I was able to walk out of my back door & shoot with a 10 second shutter, on. my. Iphone.

Unbelievable. And luckily, this event has caused me to stand out in the grass in my backyard for almost 20 minutes while watching it.

Best thing about this week, so far.

My condolences to those who lost someone this weekend. Javier Morales Jr. was a son, brother and dear friend lost on October 12, 2024 this week around the 9100 block of Western Ave. If you can afford to do so, please go to the Go Fund Me and donate to help this family out with funeral expenses and help to support Javi Morales  Jr.’s younger brothers. The remainder of the proceeds will be donated to LiveFree which Javi had just started working with last year, in an effort to help lessen community violence. Gun violence is never a solution to any problem.

After so much loss and hate and, etc., it’s been quite a week. I sincerely hope all of you can take a rest from it, even if for just a while this weekend.

Take care of each other, and be sure to stop by next week to see what’s happening around Edmond.
