Welcome to Around Edmond: Special Shop Edmond Edition! We had so many new photos this week that I didn’t want the regular edition bogged down with 2 feet worth of shopping. You can read about upcoming events in the regular edition of Around Edmond:New location selected for Trick or Treat. Free Trees. Shop Edmond. Open Houses!
There are numerous open houses coming up in the next few weeks and we’ll be sure to bring you all that is unique. I love Open Houses and this year should be really fun!
This weekend we stopped in to 2 Doors Down, Emory Anne Interiors and Serendipity Market to see all of their changes and that are starting to come daily with new holiday merchandise. While we know Edmond isn’t all about shopping, we provide this service to you, our reader’s, even if it’s just to give you a little inspiration. I have to say it’s inspiring me, even though I haven’t even gotten out a single fall decoration.
I hope you enjoy, and I hope you stop into these independently owned stores, as they are unique stores with tremendous creativity and their prices rival big box stores!

Welcome back to Around Edmond! If you are new to Edmond, welcome! You’ve arrived just as the most fun events are about to happen, and starting with Halloween. Every year the Downtown Edmond Business Association has put on a community event called Trick or Treat on the Street, and it’s been well received and appreciated by Edmond residents.
This year, the event will take place in the Festival Marketplace on 1st Street, just west of Broadway (behind the Edmond Sun building). According to Mary Edwards, the President of DEBA, the logistics were impossible to get around due to the construction going on with the new Public Safety Center back on Littler. The only changes this year will be no inflatables, however all of the fun you’ve come to know this event for will be in place! It happens on Thursday Oct. 31 and goes from 5 pm to 6:30 pm! It’s always fun, so be sure to head over on Halloween evening!
Another annual event that’s very popular with residents is the free tree distribution and that is coming up Friday Oct. 18 at the Festival Marketplace at 12 noon! This event is a great opportunity to get a free young tree and it runs until they’re gone (1st come 1st serve)! If you’d like more information, it is available at this link: http://edmondok.com/Calendar.aspx?EID=3773
There are a number of puppies and kittens coming into the Edmond Animal Shelter and now is the time to adopt! $25 adoption fees cover spaying/neutering, all shots and it’s an amazing deal! Check the poster out for their next event “Howloween Adoption Event” happening on Friday October 25 and it should be a lot of fun! Adoptions start at 10 am and festivities start at 4 pm, and the event goes until 10 pm.
The location of the Edmond Animal Shelter is 2424 Old Timbers Drive and the event will run from 10 am to 10 pm with free hot dogs, free candy, a bake sale, raffle prizes and face painting.
Emory Anne Interiors just posted that they will be hosting their annual Holiday Open House on Thursday Nov. 7! If you follow us at Facebook, Instagram or Twitter, you’ve seen some of the amazing things this store has to offer. This event will highlight all that is new for the holidays and we hope you stop by as this store really is one of Edmond’s gems! Located on 33rd St. between Kelly & Santa Fe.
After last week’s homecoming parades, which were all terrific, I wanted to share what I think is probably one of the best floats I’ve seen at any parade held in Edmond in a few years. This Cruella De Ville float was hands down one of the best as far as the attention to detail. Great job to the Edmond North Cheer Squad!
Have a great week and don’t forget to check out the Special Holiday Shop Edmond Edition of Around Edmond here!
